Sentimental Halloween, how people celebrated the tradition 100 years ago

This is likely to challenge your beliefs in Halloween, but unbeknownst to most the tradition began more than 2000 years ago. What is nowadays known as All Saints Day hail from Celtic New Year celebrations when it was common belief that spirits roamed the Earth in search of an afterlife. Halloween related notions changed as time went by, and so did the costumes. Changes can be found throughout times and are typically found along the lines of the dresses donned or the masks worn. A stunning example of the evolution beginning with pagan animal skins to the use of bizarre and sinister 20th century masks and modern day costumes of fairy tale rascals and super heroes and heroines!

We are proud to present you with a collection of classic Halloween costumes ranging from the last century and an extra picture of a modern costume that appears as if it was handed right down from the past. h/t: brightside
