Bo-Kaap tells the saga of the Malay community

Neighboring the South African city Cape Town, the city Bo-Kaap tells the saga of a long time. The residents of the area are the descendants of the salves bought here earlier. With passage of time the freed slaves gave birth to a new generation who now call themselves Cape Muslims. The beautifully colored houses and the cobbled street remind the earlier days. They have rich heritage and the community enjoys a unique identity. Residents of Bo-kaap are afraid that they may lose their cultural identity as many people have sold their properties to the outsiders and left.
