3D printed model helps in growing skull of a girl suffering from craniofacial abnormality

Grace Kabelenga is girl, aged 7, whose face has a hole, and this is the result of encephalocele, a deficiency in which a portion of brain juts out through a hole in the cranium. This has break open her face down its center. This girl underwent a surgery when she was aged 4 for correcting her facial abnormality, but a great segment of her cranium was extracted to thwart infection. Presently, Grace has gone through high tech surgical treatment in South Africa for getting a specially crafted forehead embedded into her cranium for encouraging the bone to develop. This unique facial form of Grace developed when she was still in the womb.
